Field’s Metal – Non-Toxic Alloy Melts in Hot Water 144 Degrees F
This is a 4 ounce (=1/4 lb = 113 grams) ingot cast from Field’s metal, a low-melting fusible alloy made from 51% Indium, 32.5% Bismuth and 16.5% Tin. It melts at 144 Fahrenheit (62 Celsius) so you can melt this in hot water at home and pour it into any mold you can think of (including Legos as shown in the picture!), and because all three metals are non-toxic it’s safe to handle at home. It’s fascinating to melt this in a cup just with hot water, then pour it out and watch it solidify. Besides home hobby use, it can also be used for industrial applications including die prototyping and electroforming mandrels. Legos not included!

This material is a very thin (.025) aluminum sheet with an embossed diamond plate pattern. It is polished to a bright “chrome-like” finish. It is perfect for garage wall panels, gym wall wainscoting, a little bling in the man cave, trailer fascia or any other light duty interior or exterior application. These sheets are shipped rolled, boxed and delivered to your doorstep. They are guaranteed to unroll easily with no crimps or damage. There is a PVC protective coating on the sheets that will keep them clean during installation. The sheets are very easy to work with, making them our favorite material for do-it-yourselfers. The material can be cut with tin snips for small jobs, like cutting out an electrical plug, or use a 18 ga hand shear to get nice clean long lines.
